This transcript was added in part in October 2008 subject to the following restrictions
Harry Govier Seeley was assistant to Adam Sedgwick at the Woodwardian Museum Cambridge. He was later appointed to Kings College Cambridge, having refused a number of prestigious appointments. In his day, Seeley was considered an authority on fossil pterosaurs and his ideas were very advanced in the light of the then current scientific knowledge.
Dragons of the Air was the first popular book to be published on fossil pterosaurs and was an instant sell out. Copies were sold in London and New York and a second reprint was made very quickly to satisfy demand. This transcript is based on the first edition, printed by Methuen and Co. A reprint was made by Dover Paperbacks in 1966 which also sold well.
